[-- so titled because this is, in fact, my long-delayed best of 2005 mix. six months in the making! i wish i could do it on cd but unfortunately my live-to-cassette mixing technology has far outstripped my current software mixing capabilities - still languishing at circa-"such great heights: 2003 in pop" levels - something that should be remedied soon. anyway - you might notice that *these songs are not actually from 05, but the roots and luomo songs are from 04 and i first heard them in 05, the flirtations and william onyeabor songs were notably reissued on compilations in 05 (several comps in the flirtations case), and the displan song is on there for obvious reasons once you hear the tape. so that's the small print.]
